Sanjay Nazerali

Global Managing Director & Chief Strategist

Sanjay Nazerali is a marketing strategist and thought leader.   

After graduating from Oxford in 1985 with an MA in Philosophy, Sanjay worked in political communications for the high profile Lord Peter Mandelson, redefining the British Labour Party which partly contributed to 13 years of government.   

Sanjay completed his MBA at INSEAD in 1991, and was appointed Senior VP, Marketing, at MTV Europe. He was part of the team that grew the network from 17m to 70m homes across the continent.  Eight years later, Sanjay founded a Top 50 international insight agency, The Depot, which was sold in 2006.   

He went on to join one of his clients, BBC News, as Global Director of Marketing, Communications & Audience Insight.  During his tenure at the BBC, Sanjay oversaw the launch of BBC Arabic TV, BBC Persian TV, and the ratings victory over CNN globally. 

In September 2013, Sanjay joined Dentsu Aegis Network as the Global Chief Strategist at Carat.  In 2017, he was honoured to be appointed as dentsu X’s first Global Chief Strategy & Development Officer, responsible for building dentsu X’s product out of Asia.  In his role, he is also member of the World Economic Forum’s network of strategists. 

Outside of work, Sanjay is a trustee of three charities, including The Radio Academy.
